Welcome to Boise Cotillion 2011-2012
Boise Cotillion Sweetheart DanceThursday, February 2nd
Our Nifty 50’s dance was really swell! Everyone looked terrific, and the music was keen! The swing dancing was very impressive. I hope you have had the chance to share this fun with someone at home! They will be amazed by your skills. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful and professional dance instruction from Ms. Natalie Gallegos.

Thanks to all who remembered to bring or send the thank you notes. The people who received them will remember your thoughtfulness. Thank you notes are something that you will be doing your whole lifetime. I was impressed with your introductions of the person behind you in the receiving line. This was great practice for you. Always remember to introduce someone if they do not know the person you are speaking with. Additionally, I would like you to know, that you are doing a great job with introductions as you change partners, and your growing ability to make casual conversation with someone new. Thank you for showing respect for all members of Cotillion. As a reminder, gum is not appropriate at this kind of affair. Always be aware when you have gum, and decide if it is an appropriate time and place to be chewing.

A big thank you to our helpful chaperones. Thank you to Patty Southern, Sandy Riggers, Carla Carly, Kim Sutherlin, Tami Casper and Heather Black. Please remember if you would like to chaperone at a particular dance please email me at boisecotillion@aol.com
Our upcoming dance, on Thursday, February 2nd is our Sweetheart Dance. We will be adding spice to the tango, so be ready to move! We have a fun dance contest planned, and great refreshments. The dress for the Sweetheart dance is regular Cotillion wear. Cotillion wear for girls should not be too revealing. Use good taste appropriate to your body and the occasion.Dresses should not be too short, or too low, and no midriff showing. Remember that you want to be comfortable dancing. The guideline for shoes is basic. Can you dance without them coming off? Boys dress is regular Cotillion wear. Creative dressing for boys is limited to a tasteful jacket, tie or shirt.

We have lots of Valentine fun planned for everyone, so please do not bring Valentines to give out to individuals at Cotillion. This can be done on a private level, if it is something you want to do. Looking forward to the fun!!!!!

What is Cotillion?

Cotillion has been around since the early 1800’s.  Today Cotillions are present in many cities. Cotillion is considered by many, to be a part of a child’ social education.  Boise Cotillion will offer dance instruction and exposure to proper social etiquette, in a fun, age appropriate party atmosphere.  Children will gain an appreciation of the joy of a variety of music and dance, as well as practice good manners and gracious behavior.  Each party/lesson will offer instruction in traditional social dances as well as popular favorites. Partners are arranged, and change often. Each child will have approximately eight different partners per night. Emphasis will be placed on proper social etiquette and fun.  Through instruction and practice, good manners become second nature, and children gain confidence and poise because they know how to handle themselves in a variety of social situations.  They have fun with their friends, meet new friends from throughout the city, dance, win prizes and enjoy refreshments, while learning social etiquette that will contribute to future success. The parties will be strictly supervised by a combination of the Cotillion directors, the dance instructor, paid assistants and parent chaperones. Appropriate behavior is required of all Cotillion members.
