Welcome to Boise Cotillion 2011-2012
All American Western held at the
Historic Mardi Gras Ballroom  615 S. 9th St.

Our Sweetheart dance was hot hot hot!!! The Tango was a favorite and our dance instructor encouraged lots of creativity in the dancing. Everyone did a terrific job of listening and following directions. The dancing was fantastic!   A big thank you to all chaperones and dance assistants.

Our next Cotillion will be held on Thursday, March 1st.  This  is our All American Western Dance.  The Western will be held at the Historic Mardi Gras Ballroom located downtown at 615 S. 9th Street (see directions below). The dress is Western wear with red, white and blue encouraged!  Suggestions for boys are: blue jeans, long sleeve shirt with sleeves rolled up (even Cotillion shirt would work great!), a bolo tie, or a bandanna, will complete the look.   Girls may wear denim, or any type of skirt, however, no pants please!  A bandanna will add to the look.    Of course, hats and boots are welcome but not required!  Girls gloves are optional.

We are going to have a great time putting dance steps that we already know, to Western music. We could include the Cotton Eye Joe, and even some line dancing.  I am looking forward to seeing you and seeing some fancy footwork!

What is Cotillion?

Cotillion has been around since the early 1800’s.  Today Cotillions are present in many cities. Cotillion is considered by many, to be a part of a child’ social education.  Boise Cotillion will offer dance instruction and exposure to proper social etiquette, in a fun, age appropriate party atmosphere.  Children will gain an appreciation of the joy of a variety of music and dance, as well as practice good manners and gracious behavior.  Each party/lesson will offer instruction in traditional social dances as well as popular favorites. Partners are arranged, and change often. Each child will have approximately eight different partners per night. Emphasis will be placed on proper social etiquette and fun.  Through instruction and practice, good manners become second nature, and children gain confidence and poise because they know how to handle themselves in a variety of social situations.  They have fun with their friends, meet new friends from throughout the city, dance, win prizes and enjoy refreshments, while learning social etiquette that will contribute to future success. The parties will be strictly supervised by a combination of the Cotillion directors, the dance instructor, paid assistants and parent chaperones. Appropriate behavior is required of all Cotillion members.
